Meet Maria
Maria L. Newman has called Atlantic County home for more than 40 years. A community leader, licensed New Jersey Real Estate Broker, and former elected member of the Hamilton Township Board of Education, she's spent her life bridging communities and making sure every neighbor has a seat at the table.
Bilingual in Spanish, Maria brings a lived understanding of the diverse voices that make up Hamilton Township — including its Spanish-speaking families. As a Latina and African American resident, representation and inclusion aren't talking points for her; they're personal.
From 2020 to June 2023, Maria served on the Hamilton Township Board of Education, where she championed students, families, and responsible fiscal decision-making. She's also the owner of Genesis Realty & Property Management in Northfield, where decades of experience in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, market analysis, budgeting, and client advocacy have sharpened the skills she'll bring to the dais.
Maria is a proud mother and grandmother — and, since 2024, the legal guardian of her younger grandchildren following the passing of their mother. That experience shapes how she sees the stakes for Hamilton Township families, and it's part of why she's running: to fight for the neighborhoods, schools, and community resources every family here deserves.

Where Maria Stands
Advocating for Our Youth: Hamilton Township's greatest asset is its young people. Maria will fight for access to quality education, safe recreational spaces, and the programs kids need to thrive — investing today for a stronger tomorrow.
Fiscal Responsibility & Affordability: With a professional background in budgeting and financial management, Maria will bring disciplined oversight to township operations — keeping costs in check and Hamilton Township affordable for working families, seniors, and long-term residents.
Supporting & Attracting Small Businesses: Vibrant local economies are built on small businesses. Maria will push for smart redevelopment that attracts new business, helps existing ones grow, and keeps entrepreneurs invested in our community for the long haul.
Banning Data Centers in Hamilton Township: Maria is calling for a ban on large-scale data centers in Hamilton Township — facilities that threaten skyrocketing utility bills, health risks from electromagnetic exposure, strained water resources, and air and noise pollution. Hamilton Township deserves development that lifts residents up, not one that burdens them.
